I wanted to say that my husband got me the most thoughtful anniversary present ever. We are going to be married eight years on the 27th of this month, but he gave me my present early, partly as a joke because he entered our anniversary wrong on some family tree website we belong to, AND because I had my surgery this morning and I was nervous as fuck so he wanted to make me feel better. He got me three Leonard Cohen books, "Book of Longing", "Book of Mercy" and "Beautiful Losers." I started reading them all today, I know I should do one at a time but I love them all dearly.

I told him months ago, when we were watching Leonard Cohen's induction to the Rock and Roll hall of fame that if he wanted to get me something I would love for our anniversary, he should get me a book of Cohen poetry. And I TOTALLY forgot about saying that, and I am so touched that he remembered. I am responsible for introducing him to Leonard Cohen's music, and he's now responsible, years later, for giving me his writing. I am so in love and grateful.

I have been obsessed with Leonard since I was 10..his music and his poetry breathe life into me..i am going to get his words tattooed on my skin next year

I am thinking of "I told you when I came I was a stranger" or "I heard my soul singing behind a leaf." And about a thousand others. Maybe even just something as simple as "tea and oranges", I don't know!

you can steal it if you want :) its a great quote and one that I totally believe..i'm thinking about getting his face tattooed on my arm as part of a sleeve devoted to my favourite writers

It will probably be 'tea and oranges' with cherry blossoms around it, because Josh has called me his cherry blossom since... well, for a long time. since the beginning.

I love that idea for a sleeve.

I had a dream once that I got a sleeve done with music I like but I woke up laughing because tori amos, prince, and def leppard are very funny together

the tea and oranges idea is wonderful :) its funny cause until now i hated pet names, but I meet Rachael and now I have 2 haha de.cal and cauliflowi haha

oh god if I had a musician sleeve it would be Prince, Beastie Boys and Joan Jett

I used to hate pet names, but I have been around him long enough that it's endearing and has depth to my life.

And I love that we would both have Prince in our sleeves! I love that short motherfucker so much, he is SO sexy even though he is a weird Jehovah's Witness now.

and for the tattoos... if you got "tea and oranges" you could also add some orange blossoms to it, along with cherry blossoms...just to keep with the theme maybe?
